Things Happen IV 6/9
Title: Things Happen IV 6/9 (part of the Golden Boy AU)
Pairing: Main!Kyumin, side: Hanchul, Eunhae, Yewon
Rating: PG-13
Genre: drama, romance
A/N: Okay so I have good new and bad new, but before we get to that I just want to say that I am so sorry for not getting back to all the comments sooner. I am just swamped with work at the moment. So, I will let you all know what that means at the end of this chapter so please read the A/N at the bottom =) So I want to clear up something because I read some of the comments and I confused everyone didn't I? Okay so uh the final pairing for this part of the AU is Kyumin. And the next part (part five) is going to have Zhou Mi and someone who you will meet in this chapter, but I bet everyone knows who it is especially if you happened to be reading the high school AU i am posting. Okay SO i will be quiet now and go and post this chapter.
Sungmin watched Kyuhyun. He didn’t like the look on the younger man’s face. He didn’t like the way he was looking at the stranger. He didn’t like how the stranger was looking at him.
“Hello. I’m Zhou Mi.”
Sungmin looked at Zhou Mi. He couldn’t exactly say that he hated the other man, because Zhou Mi’s adorable smile made him very hard to hate from the beginning. But, Sungmin didn’t exactly warm up to Zhou Mi right away either. He was sort of in the middle. He waited and watched.
Zhou Mi was looking for Hankyung which meant that he wasn’t here for Kyuhyun. But, Kyuhyun obviously knew this Zhou Mi.
“Kyuhyun-ah?” he whispered taking Kyuhyun’s hand.
Sungmin watched as Kyuhyun finally detached his eyes from Zhou Mi. He bit back a smug smile when Kyuhyun leaned into him.
“Help me Min.” Kyuhyun whispered in his ear. “Get me out of here, please.”
Sungmin wrapped an arm around Kyuhyun as the younger man leaned into him, burying his face in Sungmin’s shoulder. Sungmin watched Zhou Mi who was frowning. Their eyes met and the question was there, the challenge.
Sungmin leaned into Kyuhyun keeping his eyes on Zhou Mi the whole time.
“What’s wrong Kyu?”
“I don’t want to be here. Can we go? I’ll tell you later.” Kyuhyun answered his hold tightening as Zhou Mi got closer.
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
Sungmin looked up at Zhou Mi. He saw the intention in Zhou Mi’s eyes. He knew that the other man wanted to get to Kyuhyun and he didn’t like it.
“Kyuhyun, is that you?”
“Yes, that’s Kyuhyun.” Sungmin answered holding Kyuhyun’s head against his shoulder. “But, he’s not feeling well, so you’ll have to excuse us. It was nice meeting you.”
“Wait,” Zhou Mi said. “Maybe I can help.”
“No.” Sungmin said. “He’s my boyfriend. I’ll help him.”
“Boyfriend?”
Sungmin said nothing. He took Kyuhyun’s hand and pulled him away. They walked together and Sungmin made sure to take Kyuhyun to his dorm. He knew that Zhou Mi would look for Kyuhyun in his dorm and he, Sungmin, wasn’t going to let Zhou Mi find Kyu if Kyu didn’t want to be found.
Sungmin watched Kyuhyun who had just fallen on his bed.
“Min?”
“Yes?” Sungmin asked coming over as Kyuhyun opened his arms.
Sungmin fell against him and he waited patiently as Kyuhyun hugged him close.
“I love you Min. I love you, really.”
Sungmin didn’t say anything. He thought that when the day came he would be happy. No, he thought he would be ecstatic, jumping up and down with joy. He thought he would run to Kyuhyun and tell him a thousand times that he loved him too. He didn’t think that the first time he heard those words; he’d be in his room after escaping who could only be an ex. He didn’t think he’d be locked away in his room waiting for an explanation. And he certainly didn’t expect it to sound more like Kyuhyun was trying to convince him.
“Kyu.” Sungmin sighed. “Who is he?”
Kyuhyun buried his head in Sungmin’s shoulder. Sungmin waited.
“He’s an ex. We used to go out back when I was still trying to decide what I wanted to do with my life. I thought I was going to be a business man like my father and my uncle. I thought I was going to help Donghae with the company.”
“I never gave singing a second thought even though I was good at it and everyone told me so. I never even thought that I could come to this school run by my own family. But, when I met Zhou Mi and when we got serious, he encouraged me. He told me that I could do it. I applied to this school because of him, but I also lost him because of this school.”
“I was in China studying there because my father thought it would be good to learn Chinese. I met Zhou Mi there and we became good friends. It’s not hard to be Zhou Mi’s friend. He’s nice and fun to be around. He’s always smiling, making everyone happy. It was easy to like him, easier to fall in love than I thought. And when I let him in, he pushed me forward. He let me know that he believed in me and that he would always believe in me.”
“I’m here because of that and I had to leave him to come here. But, I promised him that if he would wait for me I would go back. I promised I would never forget him. I promised that I would always love him.”
Kyuhyun paused and Sungmin didn’t know what to say. He thought that this story would have some tragic ending where Zhou Mi did something horrible to Kyuhyun and where Kyuhyun didn’t want to see Zhou Mi ever again. If that had been the case then Sungmin would have found it easy to dislike Zhou Mi. He would have bonded more with Kyu over that. He would have kept a close eye on Zhou Mi. He would have protected Kyuhyun.
But, it was the complete opposite. Zhou Mi had helped Kyuhyun. Zhou Mi loved Kyuhyun. Zhou Mi would never hurt Kyuhyun. And Kyuhyun loved Zhou Mi.
“Min, what do I do?”
Sungmin sighed. He moved away from Kyuhyun and ran a hand though his hair. He almost laughed. He’d picked up a Hankyung habit.
“Kyu, do what you have to do. Go tell him.”
“Yeah, I have to tell him.”
Sungmin’s heart dropped past the floor. He didn’t think it would hurt that much. He didn’t think he was really that attached to Kyuhyun. But, damn did it hurt.
“Then go tell him and don’t worry, I promise to step aside. I won’t get in the way.”
“Wait. What?”
But, Sungmin couldn’t do it. He didn’t stay. He didn’t want to hear Kyuhyun apologize. He ran out the door.
“Min! Wait, Sungmin! That’s not…”
It wasn’t long before he couldn’t hear Kyuhyun anymore. It was better if they weren’t together. It was better that way. If Kyuhyun loved Zhou Mi then Sungmin wasn’t going to get in the way. Zhou Mi had been first and Kyuhyun had promised.
He walked on not really watching where he was going, not really caring, wondering how Zhou Mi would react and wishing he could hate that smiling face. But, he couldn’t. It was Hankyung all over again, smiling Chinese man equals infatuated world. It was probably a Chinese thing. Maybe all Chinese men came equipped with a special gene that made them immediately likable. He could see how that would work.
“Excuse me? Can you help me?”
Sungmin looked up. He knew enough English to pinpoint the language, but he didn’t know enough to understand what the person in front of him was talking about.
“Uh…um…Korean?” Sungmin tried using the only word he knew for sure.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” The guy said bowing. “I keep forgetting that I’m not in Canada anymore. I’m Henry. Nice to meet you.”
Sungmin stared. The Korean was perfect to the last accent and he was sure that the English was too. Sungmin looked at Henry. The boy, because he could still be called that with all that adorableness hanging off of him was tall as far as things went. He reminded Sungmin of Kyuhyun if this were an alternate universe and Kyuhyun had suddenly become cute and adorable enough to squeeze to death.
Sungmin seriously wanted to pinch those cheeks and just stare at Henry all day. He was so cute that for a second Sungmin considered handing his crown over. Henry was seriously too cute for words.
“You’re from Canada? What are you doing here? I’m Sungmin by the way.”
“Nice to meet you…hyung?”
“Probably.” Sungmin said. “You look too young to be older than me.”
“I came here to study and to practice the Korean I learned back at home. My parents think that having international experience will make me better adapted for when I inherit the company millions. And I am Canadian, but with Chinese ancestry.”
It figured that he would be Chinese. It just proved that Sungmin was right and that all Chinese men were preprogrammed to have an advantage over the rest of them. He even had proof now: three Chinese men. Who could argue with that?
“Okay then Henry, what can I help you with?”
“I just need help getting to class. Do you think you can point me in the direction to go?”
Sungmin took Henry’s schedule and looked it over. He was surprised to see that Henry had most of his classes with him.
“How old are you exactly?” Sungmin asked as he read down the list.
Henry smiled and Sungmin wanted to pinch his cheeks.
“I’m a music genius.”
“Okay kid genius, let’s go to class.”
A/N: So here it is and look it's Henry!!!!!!!! *rushes over to pinch Henry's cheeks and hug him* He's here!!!!!! =) Okay so there we go. Is everyone a bit more calm now? And now for the good new bad news.
Bad news: I have finals coming up and I have to go and study. I am an obsessive neat freak so I have drawn up a schedule and everything for study time and everything. And I am afraid that since I also have a group project due and everything I won't have time to update. Basically what I am saying is that I am going on a mini hiatus. So later today (or tomorrow depending on where you are) I will be uploading the next chapter of It's High School and that'll be the last consistent update I do for a few weeks.
Good new:I have this Kyumin fic completely done and so I can always post, but the problem is that I'm not sure when I will have time to update, but I will try to get these chapters up for all of you in between.
I hope you all like this chapter and I apologize if something doesn't make sense or if there are any mistakes here anywhere. I am up at the worst possible time and am about to pull my first ever all nighter and yeah. So that was it and I am going to be quiet and go finish my work now. Thanks for all the support babies <333333
