At the beginning of this story, I thought that Luis was afraid Manuel didn't love him, and so wanted to be sure of never giving too much away.

Then I went through feeling that Luis was the stronger personality in the relationship, but at the end... I was back full circle again to the fact that, while Luis is louder/cruder/more aggressive, he is still afraid of not being loved enough for Manuel to stay.
