I think, in this case certainly, there is no price high enough for what comes after. Most specifically economic security. If there's an in, you take it and run as far as you can with it. It would be hard not to, especially when there are people you care about who can't go as far as you given the color of their skin. The issue becomes not letting the world you're stepping into take over.
