Hyungs and Kisses (1/2)

A/N: First of all, thank you all so much for your support of my first story, My Name is Kangin. Here’s my second fic, hope the hanchul bias isn’t too obvious :P

“Hankyung? Hankyunnnie? Hankyung!”

“Uh, what?” Hankyung asked, finally realizing that someone was calling his name.

“What are you thinking about?” Heechul asked, putting his head on Hankyung’s shoulder and following his gaze.

“Nothing.” Hankyung answered, turning away to look out of the closest window.

“Aw, come on Hankyung. I know that compared to me, Kyuhyun is nothing, but don’t be so harsh on the boy. He’s good looking in his own right.”

When Hankyung didn’t answer, Heechul threw up his hands and sighed.

“It’s been four months now. Don’t tell me you’re still not over him.”

When Hankyung still didn’t say anything, Heechul moved so that he and Hankyung were touching from the shoulder down. Heechul turned so that his lips were at Hankyung’s ear.
“If you want a reaction from him, Hannie, you’ll have to do better than just moping around.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Hankyung answered. But, even so, his eyes slid over and came to rest on Kyuhyun was slumping in his chair watching something no one else could see. Hankyung watched as a lock of hair fell across his forehead. He had to clench his fists to stop himself from getting up and touching that dark hair. He had loved to run his fingers through it once long ago. He had to shake his head to make himself forget the taste of those lips, the soft sighs that had intoxicated him, the murmured words that offered the world and the tender promises exchanged under the covers.

“If you want, I can help you.” Heechul whispered.

Hankyung said nothing. What was he supposed to say? Help? What could he possibly need help with? He had forgotten Kyuhyun, given him up. Even if he might somehow still loved him after all this time, he would never go back to him, could never go back.

“Look at me.” Heechul said, his voice stronger.

Hankyung turned at the command. He found Heechul’s face close to his, much too close.

“He’s looking at us, but don’t you dare look at him. If you want him to react, if you want him to realize what he’s missing, then don’t move and let your hyung help.” Heechul murmured as if they were sharing a secret. Hankyung’s big, brown, innocent eyes looked at Heechul’s dark ones. Hankyung’s eyes were so warm and trusting that Heechul couldn’t help himself. Heechul’s intention had been to place a kiss on Hankyung’s cheek. It was supposed to be an act, but the trusting look in the other man’s eyes was too much.

“Good night Hankyung-sshi.” Heechul sighed as he was finally able to run his fingers through that hair.

“Good night Heechul.” Hankyung answered, wondering when the moment had gotten so intimate.
They were just saying goodnight, but it felt like they were exchanging love vows, future promises. Heechul was so close that Hankyung could count every one of his eyelashes. His heart skipped a beat as he realized that if he leaned forward his lips would be on top of Heechul’s.
And some part of his mind vaguely remembered that he was doing this for something. But, the majority of his senses were focused on this moment here, with Heechul, just the two of them, together.

“Hankyung...” Heechul whispered.

“HYUNGS! Get a room!”

Heechul and Hankyung sprang apart as Siwon appeared behind them. Hankyung felt his face burn red as he avoided Heechul’s gaze. He heard Heechul laugh and snuck a peek at the other man who was looking at Siwon.

“Come on Siwon. You know very well that I don’t go around touching just anyone. I save my skin ship for Hankyung.”

Siwon shook his head and walked away muttering. “Like we don’t get enough with Leeteuk and Kangin. At least Donghae and Eunhyuk have the decency to be quieter about it.”

Heechul laughed and stood from the couch. He leaned over and placed a kiss on Hankyung’s forehead and followed after Siwon.
“I’ll leave the door unlocked.” Heechul called back with a sly smile.

Hankyung’s throat closed tightly as he fought to remember what to say. Heechul’s comment was unnecessary. They shared a dorm except for the brief period when he had slept over at Kyuhyun’s dorm. And still, he couldn’t help but stand and follow Heechul. There was just something about that man that attracted him, like a bee is attracted to flowers.

“Hankyung-sshi?”
Hankyung stopped. That voice that called him was enough. He turned around and there was Kyuhyun, glaring at him.

“What was that about?” the younger man demanded.

“What was what?” Hankyung asked as politely as he knew how.

“You know what. Don’t play dumb. You never told me that you and Heechul…”

“That me and Heechul what?” He was not angry, but indifferent. He thought that he wanted a jealous Kyuhyun, some possessiveness. But, now that he was getting it, he found he didn’t want it. Heechul was right. It had been long ago. He had let it go and still some part of him was holding on when it should just let it go. It was then that he remembered exactly why he and Kyuhyun had broken up.

***

It had been like any other day. They were piled with things to so and their manager hyung had informed them that the show would be dedicated to Hanchul.
Heechul had done a marvelous job at acting, too well of a job in Hankyung’s opinion, but orders were orders and it was just Heechul. Eventually sometime during the day, their acting had gotten more real. Hankyung found that it was easier to be Hanchul than he thought, He hadn’t seen the problem.
It never once crossed his mind that Heechul would make a better boyfriend than Kyuhyun. He was happy with Kyu. They understood each other in a level that made him comfortable. They were made for each other or so Hankyung had thought.

When they got back from recording, Kyu refused to talk to him and when he did talk to him, it was just to tell him that he was tired. Hankyung hadn’t understood the cold treatment but he did understand that he wasn’t welcomed at Kyu’s dorm that night.

He’d gone to Heechul’s room to sleep, but he hadn’t been able to, not even with Heechul and him sharing the same bed. He had gone to find Kyuhyun, but instead of making up they had ended everything. He had found him in a very compromising position with Sungmin. Sungmin had had the decency to look ashamed, but Kyuhyun had just laughed when he’d asked what was going on.

“Hyung, it’s not what it looks like.” Sungmin had tried to explain and Hankyung had been ready to listen. He would have understood, explained, anything, but Kyuhyun hadn’t wanted to explain.

“No hyung, it’s not what it looks like.” Kyu had said leaning up on his elbows. “Just because your boyfriend is half naked and in another man’s bed, doesn’t mean it is exactly what it looks like. An eye for an eye hyung.”

Hankyung didn’t remember much after that. All he knew was that since that day he and Kyuhyun hadn’t talked much. And even though Kyuhyun was now with Sungmin, Hankyung never blamed Sungmin. He didn’t blame Kyuhyun either. He was more sad than anything else that a small misunderstanding would be enough to end their friendship.

“You know what Kyu?’ Hankyung asked looking at the young man.

“What?”

“I think you and Sungmin make a beautiful couple.”

And with that he walked away leaving behind a very confused Kyuhyun.
