Things Happen II 9/11

A/N: *points at icon* It's HIS FAULT!!!!!! Look at the blond, hotness. I am so obsessed with Geng and his damn blond hair. *sigh* Okay, well, that's the reason I made him do what he did. You guys will read all about it soon enough and well this icon here was the inspiration. And well, like I was telling some of you, if you squint or well just read carefully enough you'll probably get an idea of who Siwon is getting or who I am giving Siwon to. And well, let's just hope everyone is super nice and cares about me and won't hate me for it. But, then again, you might miss it XD...well you'll know by the end of this fic, so...I hope you enjoy the chapter.

Hankyung was frustrated, very frustrated. He hated his hair. It reminded him too much of Siwon’s. He tried very hard not to rip it all out of his head and then, just out of spite, he decided to dye it again.

“Yesung?” he called as he walked out of his bedroom. “Eunhyuk?”

“What is it hyung?” Eunhyuk asked running in.

Hankyung smiled. Ever since he and Heechul had stopped dating, Eunhyuk and Yesung had become very attentive. It almost made Hankyung wish he had broken up sooner. Almost. He wasn’t going to lie and say he was fine with seeing Siwon and Heechul together. He supposed he would have been happier if he didn’t still believe, stubbornly perhaps, that Heechul was in love with him, that this whole thing was just some sort of tantrum that Heechul wanted to throw. He believed it and maybe believing that was what let him keep going.

He knew there were times when he would be watching Heechul and Siwon and he would have the overwhelming desire to rip them apart. He had never seen anything physical between the two, not since that day in the classroom. They were still playing the part of engaged couple, but there was less kissing and more looking now.

It annoyed Hankyung, annoyed him, bothered him, made him want to wipe that indulgent smile of off Siwon’s face, but at the same time, it calmed him. He saw the look on Heechul’s face and knew he had done the right thing. He would see how Heechul calculated, how he weight Siwon against what he knew from Hankyung.

It was apparent to him that this was a comparison between him and Siwon. He might have been fooling himself, for all he knew, Heechul could be madly in love with Siwon, but Hankyung didn’t think so. He didn’t think so and he wasn’t sure if it was because he was in love or if it was because it really was that way, maybe it was both.

“I want to dye my hair.” He announced as Yesung walked in. “Do you have anything planned for today?”

“Nope.” Eunhyuk said. “What color?”

“I can cancel.” Yesung said. “I need to be there when you complain.”

“I won’t complain.” He said picking up his car keys. “I never complain when I’m the one who makes the decision to change something.”

“But, you like your hair color.” Yesung argued. “As soon as you see it in a different shade, you’re going to go crazy.”

“I won’t.”

“You will and I can bet money on that.” Eunhyuk said putting an arm around Hankyung’s neck. “How much?”

Hankyung rolled his eyes. He had missed spending time with Yesung and Eunhyuk.

“It’s like a Golden Boy reunion.” He said as they walked to the parking lot.

“Sungmin’s not here though.” Eunhyuk said. “I think he kidnapped Kyuhyun for the day.”

“Love confession?” Yesung asked.

“Love confession.” Eunhyuk answered.

“Min should kiss him and get it over with.” Yesung said. “Everyone can tell that Kyuhyun is crazy about him and we can all tell Sungmin feels the same way.”

Hankyung laughed. “You didn’t react very well when I did that.”

“You kissed Yesungie?” Eunhyuk asked eyes wide. “How was it? How did you two do it? I mean I know you dated, but I never heard the story. Tell me, please.”

Hankyung looked at Yesung and then they both looked away. He knew he wasn’t going to say anything and as far as things went, Yesung didn’t seem to want to say anything either. It was a bit too personal for both of them. They had been too close from the very beginning and it was still a bit embarrassing to tell the story.

“Please.” Eunhyuk said dragging out the word. “I won’t tell a soul. You two keep too many secrets. Just me, I promise. It’ll never leave this car we’re about to get into.”

“Hankyung-sshi can tell you if he wants.”

“No, Yesung can do it.”

“I don’t understand.” Eunhyuk said rolling his eyes. “You two dated, did some more things together and Yesung still calls you Hankyung-sshi. Doesn’t dating you make you Hankyung automatically, hyung?”

Hankyung felt his face turn red and he was careful to avoid Yesung’s eyes. That was certainly too personal to ever discuss with Eunhyuk, ever.

“Where do you want to sit?” Hankyung asked Eunhyuk. “Front? Or back?”

“This isn’t going to distract me for long you know.” Eunhyuk said getting into the front.

“I never said anything about distracting you.” Hankyung answered. “I just asked if you wanted to sit in the front or the back.”

“So, you’re going to tell me?”

“Someday.”

Hankyung ignored the protests and drove. He didn’t know where he was taking them. He just knew he had to change his hair color or he was going to end up hating his reflection. He was still just glad that he wasn’t as tall as Siwon. He was slightly shorter and even that small measurement mattered to him.

“Why are we here again?” Eunhyuk asked.

“Because, I don’t want to look like Siwon.” Hankyung answered.

“What’s wrong with Siwon?” Yesung asked.

Hankyung and Eunhyuk both gave him a look.

Eunhyuk turned to Hankyung. “But, you don’t look like him, hyung. You have longer legs and you dance better and you speak better Chinese and your hair is nicer and I like your dimple better and you have a prettier face and—”

“I think he gets it.” Yesung laughed.

“No, no.” Hankyung said finding an empty spot. “He can keep going if he wants to. I won’t stop him.”
                    ***
He liked the hair. He really liked his hair. He had gone for a shade lighter than the last blond he had. He’d also let the woman style it for him. She had left it pretty much the same length, but had styled and cut in a way that made his hair fall over the left side of his face. It was nice. It reminded Hankyung of Heechul, because it made him seem dangerous, vicious, almost feral, except of course when he smiled, then he just looked cute. It was annoying really.

“Han…woah…hyung, what happened?” Kyuhyun asked walking into the dorm.

Hankyung turned to him helplessly. “What the hell am I going to do Kyu?”

“I’m going to tell you what you’re not going to do. You’re not going out like that. Heechul hyung is already having enough trouble keeping himself off you, don’t do this to him.”

“Don’t do what?” Hankyung said suddenly very interested. “I haven’t done anything.”

“You’re going to give Heechul a heart attack.”

Hankyung smirked. “Maybe that’s what he needs.”

Kyuhyun shook his head.

“What about you?” Hankyung asked.

“What about me?”

“You know exactly what I’m talking about. You and Sungmin disappeared for a while today. No one knew where you were and we’re not exactly innocent bunnies here.”

“Sungmin’s innocent.” Kyuhyun said, but it sounded like he wanted to convince himself.

Hankyung knew he shouldn’t have laughed. He regretted it immediately especially since Kyuhyun glared at him.

“We know what you and Heechul were doing every chance you got, but just because he did it with you and now with Siwon, doesn’t mean me and Sungmin are like that.”

Hankyung felt the smile slide off his face. Heechul and Siwon?

“Oh, hyung, I’m sorry. I didn’t…”

“No,” Hankyung said forcing his smile. “It’s fine. I know. I understand. I apologize for laughing. I’m going to go eat now.”

He left Kyuhyun in the dorm. Now, he was angry. He had let it all go by for weeks, but now he was tired. He had been patient. He had understood. He had let Heechul have his freedom, but it was enough. He didn’t care what Heechul wanted anymore. He only cared about what he wanted.

He had been stepped on for far too long. He was always thinking about others, doing what would make everyone around him happy. And he was tired of it. He had let Siwon take Heechul, because he didn’t want Heechul to be hurt. He had let Heechul hang off of Kyuhyun because Heechul wanted it. He had let Heechul disappear for weeks because Heechul didn’t want to tell him. He had let too many chances slip through his fingers.

But, he was done today.

He walked to the recording room. A song was appropriate wasn’t it? He almost laughed at how stupid he was being. A song? For Kim Heechul? He might as well give the guy a bat and let himself get hit. It was stupid, but he was going to be stupid. He didn’t care. He was half stupid already. He had let Heechul go. He had let go of the one person he loved more than anything else. He really was stupid. What would one more little stupid thing do to him?

So, he recorded the song, the one Yesung had helped him write. He took the CD and did the stupidest thing he had ever done in his life. With some shameless flirting, he managed to get the girl at the announcement office to play the song. She promised and she didn’t lie. At exactly 2:46 pm, the music started playing.

He was sitting with Heechul, Siwon, Yesung, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun and Sungmin.

“For Kim Heechul.” The announcement said. “A song from someone who loves you.”

Hankyung saw the raised eyebrow look Heechul shared with Donghae. He didn’t leave though. Hankyung leaned back. He knew Yesung recognized the song the second the instrumental came on. They exchanged a look and Hankyung silenced Eunhyuk with another look.
The first out of the rest of them to recognize the song was Sungmin. Hankyung saw his eyes go wide and he turned all the way around to look at Hankyung. Hankyung shook his head slightly and Sungmin stopped Kyuhyun.

He waited.

Donghae was next. He blinked and frowned at Heechul. But, Donghae didn’t say anything, mostly because Eunhyuk was right next to him. Ryeowook recognized the song before Donghae did, but he didn’t say anything. Hankyung was grateful. He sat there watching Heechul.

“It’s a pretty good song.” Siwon commented. “Nice voice. Wonder who sang it for you? It must have been a lot of work.”

“Hmpm.” Heechul scoffed. “It’s not that hard to sing a song.”

“Hyung.” Donghae said. “You can’t say it’s not hard. It takes a lot of work. You have to write it, have to sing it, find the right notes. It’s a lot of work.”

“No,” Hankyung said, “Heechul’s right. It doesn’t take much work. Nothing takes much work, especially if you’re in love.”

“Love?” Heechul asked, “What does love have to do with it?”

Hankyung smirked. He watched Heechul for a second. He knew right away when Heechul recognized the voice. He smiled and stood up.

“There’s not much of a difference between my voice and the one I use when I sing.” He said dropping his napkin on the table.

He turned and walked away.

“The song was sung by Hankyung.”

Hankyung knew every eye was on him as he reached the door. He stopped and turned around. He wasn’t disappointed. Every eye in the lunchroom was on him. He looked back at them all and smiled. He looked past the first few people and at Heechul.

Their eyes met and held. There was a question in Heechul’s eyes and Hankyung refused to answer. He just looked at him. Then, he turned and walked out of the lunchroom.
