Things Happen II 4/11

A/N: Hello there my poor, sad babies. I have the next chapter and I'm here long enough to post before I pack my bags and move somewhere where you can't find me. *hides* I warned you. *hugs* I promise to make it better? *runs*

Hankyung woke up first. His mind was completely filled with images of Heechul. It took him a moment to realize the he had been dreaming of the dark haired, cold hearted idiot. He yawned, but didn’t move. He was too comfortable lying between Yesung and Eunhyuk.

He pulled Eunhyuk closer to him and closed his eyes again. Who cared if they were late one day, right? He was tired. He needed sleep. He could let them all sleep. They would always be on time for the second class.

He groaned. Who was he kidding? He was Hankyung. He was born to be on time, born to be stubbornly annoying. He sat up.

“Eunhyuk? Get up. Yesung.” He said pulling on Eunhyuk’s arm.

He watched Eunhyuk groan and roll away. He picked up a pillow from the floor and threw it at Yesung before he picked Eunhyuk up. He frowned at how light the other man was. Wasn’t he eating?

“Hankyung?” Eunhyuk asked as Hankyung set him down in the bathroom. “Where am I?”

“You’re going to shower and then get out so that Yesung and I can have a turn. Don’t take too long. I’ll go make breakfast.” He said humming Yesung’s song as he went.

“A full eight hours of sleep after not sleeping for six days and this is what it does to him? If I had known I would have let him pass out from exhaustion instead.”

Hankyung laughed and walked into the kitchen. He was in a better mood. He didn’t know why exactly. It wasn’t that he didn’t miss Heechul, because every time he thought of him, the pain would come back. But, it was also replaced with more pressing manners, pushed to the back, by Yesung and Eunhyuk.

“Hankyung?” Yesung asked walking into the kitchen.

Hankyung set down a mug of coffee and pancakes. He took a seat opposite to Yesung and drank his own coffee.

“You’re back.” Yesung whispered taking his coffee and inhaling deeply.

“Not back.” Hankyung frowned. “I was always here.”

“No, you weren’t” Eunhyuk said coming back. “You were in your own little world. But, now you’re back and we can all have peace around here. Do you know how many nights I’ve gone without sleep? Three. And you know why? Because you suddenly decided that sleep was unnecessary.”

Hankyung laughed. “I love you too Hyukkie.”

“You’re not allowed to call me that. You’re not allowed to call me that until I’m not mad at you anymore.”

“Hyukkie.” Hankyung smirked. “Hyukkie, hyukkie, hyukkie.”

“Stop.” Eunhyuk said covering his ears with his hands.

Hankyung had fun chasing Eunhyuk around the dorm. Then, he went to shower. When he walked out he examined his reflection carefully. He looked like he had just gotten the best sleep of his life. His eyes weren’t so dead anymore and his expression seemed brighter. He frowned. He recovered fast.

Hankyung pulled at his hair. He liked it this color, dark, and short. He had gotten Sungmin to cut it for him a month ago and it was growing out nicely. He picked up the school uniform and slipped into it. He had to go back to the gym. He hadn’t seen that place in weeks. He rearranged his hair, gave himself a Golden Boy smile and walked out of the bathroom.

“Let’s go.” He said picking up Eunhyuk and Yesung’s bags.

“It’s early.” Eunhyuk complained running into the room anyway.

“We have to be early. I have to make up for all the days I’ve been late.” Hankyung said closing the door behind Yesung.

“One day?” Yesung grumbled.

“I lost a whole minute.” Hankyung said stepping in between the two. “A whole minute. Do you know what that will do to my reputation? I’ve never been late. What do you think all the Hankyung fans are going to think?”

“That you’re going crazy,” Eunhyuk called. “Because, we’re not listening.”

Hankyung laughed. It was nice to laugh. It made him feel better. He waited for Eunhyuk and Yesung to catch up then he took their arms in his hands. He pulled them along as Eunhyuk complained about the morning and why the sun should come out at ten instead of six.

“No, think about it.” Eunhyuk was saying. “We would get so much more sleep that way. And since most people do most of their things at night, we’d have so much more time for everything.”

“Hankyung!”

Hankyung turned. He grinned as Sungmin ran to them.

“Hello Min!” he greeted.

He watched the wide eyed look Sungmin gave Eunhyuk and smirked. He saw Eunhyuk shrug and shake his head.

“You two do know that since I’m right in from of you, I can see everything and anything you do, right? It’s not just me? You two do know?” Hankyung said laughing at the blush on Sungmin’s face.

“Let’s go.” He said walking again.

He was doing well until they ran into Donghae and Ryeowook. He frowned and looked away as both Yesung and Eunhyuk ran into the arms of their boyfriends. He looked down at his feet, anywhere besides the love scene that was unfolding in front of him.

“So,” he said as Kyuhyun came over. “Nice weather.”

“It’s raining.” Kyuhyun pointed out.

“I like the rain.” Sungmin said as they tried not to laugh.

“That was weird. Stop it.” Kyuhyun said.

Hankyung shook his head. “You know what’s worse? We can see them. Everyone can see them. They need to get a room.”

“You never really think about those things though.” Sungmin said. “Not when you’re like them you don’t.”

“Like them?” Kyuhyun asked turning to look at the couples.

“In love.” Hankyung said.

He watched Donghae and Eunhyuk. They weren’t doing anything. They were just there staring at each other. Donghae’s hand was around Eunhyuk’s shoulders, their faces close together. All they were really doing was looking into each other’s eyes. But, it was apparent to anyone who walked by that those were two people who loved each other.

Ryeowook and Yesung weren’t any better. The two were closer together than Donghae and Eunhyuk. Yesung was leaning down and Ryeowook had his arm around Yesung’s shoulders. They were looking at their twined fingers. It was adorable in a way. Yesung would occasionally lean over and kiss Wookie’s cheek or Wookie would lean over and put his head against Yesung’s.

“It’s embarrassing.” Kyuhyun said pushing on Hankyung’s arm. “Do something hyung.”

Hankyung laughed. He put an arm around Kyuhyun’s shoulder.

“We could do it too you know.” He said leaning over to press a quick kiss on Kyuhyun’s cheek.

He laughed as Kyuhyun wiped his face. “I got this.”

“Yesung, get up.” Hankyung said moving forward. “You’re older, taller. You should be the one in charge. And Eunhyuk get your face out of Donghae’s.”

“Hyung.” Eunhyuk gasped.

“No, no excuses.” He said taking Eunhyuk’s arm on one side and Yesung’s on the other. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need my Golden Boys back.

He turned and winked at Sungmin who laughed and ran over to take Eunhyuk’s other arm. Hankyung waited as Kyuhyun carefully attached himself to Sungmin before he dragged them all into the classroom. He heard murmured protests from Ryeowook and Donghae and had to smile.

The class was uninteresting. The teacher was gone and they did nothing, but stare blankly at the substitute. Hankyung let his mind wander. He thought about Heechul, what Heechul was doing, if he was okay, if he was getting enough to eat, if he was warm, if he was happy. He paused on the last one. Was Heechul happy?

Would Heechul be happy now that he was back with his family? Maybe. Would Heechul be happy that he wasn’t with Hankyung? No. He couldn’t be happy about that. If Hankyung was unhappy then Heechul had to be unhappy. That’s how their universe worked. One couldn’t be happy without the other. They had established that a while back.

They weren’t as young as their friends. They knew. They knew that they loved each other, didn’t need anyone to tell them, didn’t need a drama to unfold for them to realize just how much they meant to each other. But, even as he thought about it Hankyung had to admit that he was wrong. Drama had unfolded. He had lost Heechul and it had taken a whole month without the other man for Hankyung to finally realize that he couldn’t live without Heechul. He could survive, but he couldn’t live.

He needed Heechul, needed that warm presence, needed that constant teasing, the looks exchanged between classes, the kisses they hid behind closed doors, the words, the sounds, the laughs, the hugs, everything.

He needed Kim Heechul like he needed the air, no, like he needed his friends, but different. He could survive without them, but it would drive him crazy eventually. He could survive without Heechul, but that would drive him crazy long before he ever realized it.

Heechul.

When had Heechul seized control of him this fully? When had Heechul become this important? When had Heechul taken control?
He sighed. When the class ended he followed the rest out the door. He followed them from class to class and finally to the lunchroom. He picked up something even though he wasn’t really hungry, but Yesung and Eunhyuk were looking at him. He ate quickly and then the eight…seven of them went out into the yard.

Hankyung leaned into Yesung. He closed his eyes and started to doze when suddenly Yesung was gone. He fell into Eunhyuk who didn’t move.

“What?” he asked opening one eye.

“You can’t sleep now.” Yesung said. “You won’t be able to sleep tonight.”

“Oh, leave him alone Yesung.” Sungmin said coming over to take Hankyung’s head into his lap. “He needs sleep. He’ll sleep fine tonight and if he doesn’t just send him over to my dorm.”

Hankyung didn’t say anything. He closed his eyes and wished that he were in his bed, under his warm covers.

“Move over Sungmin hyung.” Hankyung heard Kyuhyun say.

He was vaguely aware of Kyuhyun pulling him into his lap. Hankyung yawned but didn’t open his eyes. He relaxed against Sungmin and Kyuhyun.

“What are you doing?” He heard Sungmin ask.

“Well, I’ve always wanted a sexy brunette in my lap.” He heard Kyuhyun say with a hint of suggestion in his voice.

It took only a second for Hankyung to register that Sungmin was a brunnette. He smiled. At least Kyuhyun wasn't wasting time. He heard the others laugh and he joined them eyes still closed.

“Hey! Hands off the merchandise.”

Hankyung froze mid laughter. That voice. He knew that voice. His eyes snapped open, but all he saw was Sungmin’s shirt. He tried to sit up, but Sungmin and Kyuhyun’s hands were holding him down firmly.

He fought them and sat up. He was in a very awkward position. He had sat up straight into Kyuhyun’s lap. He almost fell off and had to hold on to Kyuhyun’s neck to keep his balance and still he couldn’t turn around.

“Hyung.” Kyuhyun whispered. “Don’t.”

But, he was beyond reason at that point. Heechul was here. His Heechul. He needed to see him, needed to hold him. They were in a public area, but he didn’t care. All he knew was that Heechul was there and that Kyuhyun was holding him back.

“What is this?” He heard Heechul say. “I leave for a few days and come back to see this? Kyuhyun is mine.”

Hankyung pulled away. He turned around. His eyes found Heechul’s and his heart fell past his feet. He devoured every inch of Heechul with his eyes. He took in that milky white skin, the long fingers, the slight smirk. He ran his eyes hungrily over Heechul’s face. He had missed him, missed him so much that now that he was seeing him again it was painful.

“Heechul.” He whispered.

Heechul’ eyes were following him the same way he was following Heechul. Hankyung couldn’t breathe, didn’t care if he ever breathed again. Heechul was there. Heechul was there. That was all that mattered.

Or, it was until he saw Heechul’s left hand. He followed the hand until his eyes spotted the ring. It was a simple gold band, but it bothered Hankyung. It bothered him because Heechul’s fingers were intertwined with another hand. Hankyung followed that hand to the man next to Heechul.

The man was young, vibrant, muscular, tall. His eyes were welcoming and brown. His polite smile revealed twin dimples that made even Hankyung stop and stare. This was no ordinary man. This was a good looking man. And Hankyung didn’t like it. He didn’t like the way the man’s arm was draped over Heechul. It looked too possessive.

He turned to Heechul, the question in his eyes.

“This is Siwon.”

“Hello.” Siwon said in that polite voice that made Hankyung want to hit him.

“Who is this?” Eunhyuk asked, looking between Heechul and Hankyung.

Hankyung said nothing. He waited like the rest of them.

“This is Siwon, my fiancé.”

There was a collective gasp around the group, from all of them except Hankyung. He searched Heechul’s eyes desperately looking for a sign that the other man was joking, but he found nothing. Heechul refused to look at him and so Hankyung turned to Siwon. The younger man was smiling politely, the hand that was holding Heechul wrapping tighter.

“Fiancé?” Kyuhyun asked glancing at Hankyung.

“Yes.” Siwon answered.

Hankyung didn’t know how he was still standing. Sungmin stood up. He took Hankyung’s hand and leaned in to whisper in his ear.

“Come, you don’t need to hear this right now.”

Hankyung let Sungmin pull him away. He let Sungmin wrap an arm around his waist. He let Sungmin take him back to the dorm. He let Sungmin push him inside. He let Sungmin hold him, but he didn’t cry. He just sat there torn between elation at having Heechul back and desperation at the news he had heard.

Fiancé?

What the hell?

What the hell Heechul?
